Robot toys also have the advantage of appealing to a wide age range, they are simple enough for young children (8+ is recommended) to use but also have advanced features that older children and even adults can enjoy.
The Robosapien is the most popular robot toy in the UK as it is the most advanced, version one came out in 2004 but there is a new version 2 for 2005 which has more features and actions. The movement of the Robosapien is incredible, it can walk, run and turn with ease and also has fully functioning arms with grippers. The Robosapien uses these actions in pre-programmed functions which are lots of fun and include throwing, picking up, kicking, dancing and even 'farting'. The Robosapien can also be programmed to perform several of these steps one after the other so users can create their own performances for the Robosapien to carry out, this adds lots of fun for the user as they can create all kinds of moves. The Robosapien can even talk, it speaks in a 'Caveman' language which expresses moods and reactions very well, the Robosapien can change mood easily which will be reflected in his behaviour. The Robosapien uses a remote control which is used to control the Robosapien, the remote control and the Robosapien itself require batteries so rechargeable batteries would be a very good idea.
The Robosapien version 2 is similar to the version 1 Robosapien but much more advanced, the version 2 model offers an 'Advanced Colour Vision System' which allows it to recognise objects with a high level of accuracy and also has an infrared radar for avoiding and picking up objects. The Robosapien version 2 can also speak in english and can play with other near by Robosapien toys, you can even get new personalities for the Robosapien version 2 so the fun is almost endless.
The Roboraptor is another very popular robot toy, this is a robot dinosaur pet that that looks and behaves just like a real dinosaur The Roboraptor can behaves like a dinosaur as if it is angry it will snarl and hiss, the Roboraptor can even bite but no harm will come to the user! The Roboraptor has changing moods, when it is in the hunter mood is will attack anything that gets too near but it also has a playful mood where it will be much nicer and it also has a cautious mood which is somewhere in between. The Roboraptor is very advanced and can detect lots of things as it has sensors all over it's body, he can hear, see and feel anyone that plays with him and he can walk and run and even hold a predatory stance. The Roboraptor is very dinosaur like with his predatory motions and realistic head and tail movements, he will roam around the room and can avoid any objects using his sensors which is all very impressive, he can even grip things in his mouth and pull them. The Roboraptor is controlled using a remote control so the user can tell the Roboraptor to do anything they like, the Roboraptor can also roam freely though and perform any of the 40 plus actions that it has installed. The Roboraptor also uses batteries for the main Roboraptor and the remote control so batteries are again an issue, rechargeable batteries are by far the best choice as robot toys such as the Roboraptor can get through batteries quickly.
There are also other robot toys available to buy online in the UK and they include the Robopet which is like a cat or a dog and behaves like a pet would. The Robopet can beg, walk, run, roll over and more and has sensors so that it will not fall off edges of tables or walk into things, the Robopet is not as advanced as the Robosapien or Roboraptor but is a good choice if you are looking for a more simple or cheaper option.
So when buying a robot toy there are lots of choices, most offer lots of sensors and built-in actions so that they can perform all kinds of interesting and fun tasks. The most popular robot toys are the Robosapien (versions 1 and 2), the Roboraptor and the Robopet, these all have different levels of features and also look very different so the robot toy you buy will depend on these factors. The robot pets with the more advanced features are not as cheap as the ones with less features, for example the Robopet is much cheaper than the Robosapien version 2 as this is the most advanced robot toy available. If you are looking for a cheap robot toy then it is worth having a shop around though as many of the shops offer cheap robot toys and some also have cheap special offers and deals, if you shop around you should be able to find a reasonably cheap robot toy to buy online in the UK.
